Castrovel is a pristine jungle planet where thriving metropolises coexist in harmony with nature. Magical gateways called aiudara connect Castrovel's cities, which are governed by a planetary federation of elven councils, formian queens, and lashunta magnates. Castrovel's unique infosphere is a web of psychically linked minds; those without psychic senses connect by bonding with tiny psychic creatures called shefis.
Castrovel's regions include Asana and its major spaceport Qabarat, a beautiful living monument of ancient walls of crushed shells cradling a modern metropolis; the towering hive-city of Queensrock and other formian colonies; the primeval jungles of Ukulam, protected by communities of plantlike khizars and their Xenowarden allies; and the spires of Sovyrian, a nation of surrealist cities sculpted by elven magic. Castrovel's wilds are virtually unspoiled because the planet's industry occurs on the super-polluted moon Elindrae.
